T-C Hawken older model question

I recently acquired an older Hawken in  .45 ,  after purchasing, it  was brought to my attenttion that the metal beam that is attached to under the barrel ,that the rod guides are attached to is usually made of blued steel. on this particular gun this rod is made of brass.  has anyone ever seen this before? or is this a very early model {serial #  175***} that may not have had a steel hanging rod?

That part is called the "under-rib"...it's always been blued steel, never brass.

The two "ramrod thimbles" are brass, that the ramrod slides through.

If I remember right, the under rib was screwed in.  Sounds like someone lost an under rib or decided to make his rifle look different.

I have never seen a brass under rib on a TC, like some else suggested it must be aftermarket....  And a barrel with 6 digits in the serial number really should not be that old.  I forget the date that TC started making 45's but it does not seem that long ago.

I read this post several times. Still wondering just what I read?
I have a T/C hawkins and the under rib is steel the pin that slides thru to hold tha barrel at the forarm is brass.
I am not sure what this hanging barrel rod is??????

No, that is the wedge and it is brass on a Hawken and Blued steel on a Renegade, it goes through the underLUG dovetailed into the barrel.  The underRIB is the long rod that the ram rod slides along under the barrel and through the thimbles into the fore arm of the stock....  Way to may "under" things....

I would have loved to added a pic but unfortunately I,m either computer illiterate or this site is set up to where only a computer geek can post pics. The piece is called a barrel rib, I apologize for not knowing the correct terminology when I originaly posted.  I,ve since talked to T-C and they confirmed it is an after market embellishment.

the pic is set at the smallest size thru pix resizer...640 x 480 I keep getting an error message when i try to post it...

How many Kbs is the pic and what is the file type? .jpg, .bmp or ?? Allowed file types: wav, mp3, txt, doc, pdf, jpg, gif, png

The pic was a jpeg, 640 x 480 or something ...I did it on pixre-sizer and it was within limits...?

Anyway I know figured out the brass rod part.  Homemade deal.

I've used pic converters that corrupted pics so they couldn't be uploaded to MyHostedPics, could be the same issue, even tho the file extension was proper, got a message that said it wasn't recognized or some such. :-\
