Hunters Pistol in the New England Area...
« on: November 27, 2009, 01:08:34 PM »

It has been many years past and the club where I once shot silhouttes doesn't run matches anymore. I would like to get back into knocking down steel. Does any know any clubs in New England?

I would suggest e-mailing Lorene Thompson at IHMSA HQ.  Her e-mail is headquarters at ihmsa.org.  Remove spaces & insert @.  She would know where active clubs are in NE.

Thanx for the info. I haven't tried IHMSA yet. Is there anything better to it then the  NRA Silhouettes?  I have been shooting lots of IDPA the past few years and just want to go make steel fall..

The basic differences are that the NRA allows 12" Production barrels while IHMSA remains at 10 3/4".  The small bore & field (hunter) pistol chickens are half scale & at 40 yards/meters for the NRA while IHMSA is 3/8 scale & at 25 yards/meters.  There are some differences in allowed sights (IHMSA allows peep on peep while NRA is peep & post) & weights also.

If you e-mail Lorene ask her to mail you a rule book.

A couple years ago, there was 3 or 4 clubs in NH.  If you are a member of NRA,sign up for "Shooting Sports" and get it email and it will have the schedule.
