760/7600 trigger question
« on: April 19, 2007, 06:02:45 PM »
Sorry if this has been asked (and answered) already but I could not find anything under the search function. I am looking to get a Rem 760 or 7600 for nostalgia purposes (had one when I was a much younger hunter). However, due to an injury, I need to keep my trigger pull down around 3 or 4 lbs. I've heard that the pulls tend to be on the stiff side and I'd like to find out if the triggers on these rifles be adjusted to this level and, if so, how much difficulty is entailed.
Regards,

All in all I've found the triggers to be pretty good, But if they aren't  to your liking there's a e-bay seller called bcgunsmithing  who sells a trigger tuning service.

Thanks fer the reply K. That is good to hear since I have been hankering o get one of these rifles. I used to not be so picky about trigger pull but my arthritis and an injury force me to keep the pull down to keep from aggravating my fingers too much.

Here's a link to a site that sells spring kits for your rifle.  I had my trigger worked by a local smith and it's much improved over what it was.

I have not personally tried this kit and saved the link a couple of years ago thinking I'd order one but never have.

Back when I got my M760 I had a trigger shoe put on it.  It was a low cost alternative that worked for me.  The only gun smith in my area was a M70 guy who only worked on Remington's to eat.  I bet he is rolling over in his grave now days.
