BC stock for .500 S&W?
« on: April 17, 2007, 02:17:53 PM »
HI I'm a newcomer to this site, am interested in the 500S&W. I like the look of the BC stock and was wondering if you can  purchase B C  stock for 500 S&W handi  rifle? Will it fit? Would it be easier to buy a BC 45 Colt and then buy the 500S&W barrel? Have found the 500 S&W handi but can't locate a BC 45 LC for sale! Lots of question, thanks for the help!

I shoot a 500 on a BC stock. You can purchase a BC stock here occasionally and every once in a while on ebay.  They are also available from H&R directly. Be prepared that full power 500's on a BC buttstock are not pleasant. The BC forearm fits fine on the 500 S&W.

You may want to think about the Topper Deluxe Classic stock.  It is walnut, checkered, and comes with the nice recoil pad.  I have one on my BC, I traded the stock with another member here.  No way would I trade back, even on a 45-70.  Much more comfortable, and looks to match the BC fore end.

I know you would have to pay shipping etc, but Whittaker guns had a 45LC last week.  Usually his prices are second to none.  Might be cheaper even with the shipping than your local dealers.

Check out his website if you are really wanting a long colt.

Daniel,
I think the topper deluxe classic is a harder stock to find in the secondary market but it makes a fine rifle set up with either the BC forearm or the TDC forearm.  I am not sure why H&R/NEF doesn't offer the 45-70, 450 marlin and 500 with them.
