What method is used by H&R/NEF to weld the barrel lugs?

looks like the MIG welding process to me and the welds look a little cold which could be the reason they break off frequently, Im a certified welder also just so you dont think im just talking out of my arse

What ever they use gets the barrel hot enough to make hard and soft spots in the metal.  While boring the barrel of the 410 for the stub project I did I could feel the hard and soft places with the lathe.  Larry

They use a spot welding process, that's why it looks cold, and also why it creates hard spots, they don't stress relieve the barrels after.

The barrel/receiver lug is MIG welded, the barrel/forend lug is SPOT (resistance) welded. Done both for many years, not firearms but for the auto industry.

As John and Busta said, the forend stud is just spot welded on with 4 spot welds, it doesn't take much to knock it off!!
