What do I have?
« on: May 06, 2007, 11:37:21 AM »
I recently purchased a Ruger M77 that caught me and my fathers eye. A local guy was selling his collection and it was the first piece I saw. It has a Brown Laminated stock with a black fore end tip. The stock to metal fit looks like it came from the factory stock and has a black ruger recoil pad. The action and barrel are blued, the action has the typical "older" plum color to it. The barrel it 18" and has Ruger Factory sights. The barrel looks like it has the contour of an ultralight. It's a .30-06. I have never seen one before and was just curious I spent a few minutes on the web and didn't find any info. Has anyone seen one of these before or know what I have? The guy claimed he bought it brand new and never fired it. It's immaculate. S/N is 771-16xxx

Have never seen a factory laminate stock with a foreend tip.   A call to the records dept. at Ruger will get you the configuration it was shipped as as well as when it was shipped.

You have an Ultralight.  The ones with the laminated stocks were only made for a year or two.
I had two, a .270 and a .30-06. IIRC, the model was M77RLZ for the model without iron sights.
