I must be nuts, I want a ten gauge
« on: March 06, 2007, 12:58:06 AM »
Hi All

I must be losing it cause I think I want a 10 gauge NEF Pardner

No use for it just like the idea of big boom

Is there a therapy group for folks like me?

You found it my friend.  I had the same symptoms about 4 years ago and bought one at Dick's.  I absolutely love the thing.  Believe it or not, but it really doesn't kick that bad.  I replaced the recoil pad, but didn't really have to.  It isn't nearly as bad a the 12 ga. Mossberg 835's that all of my in-laws shoot for turkey season.  Plus, it's kind of cool packing a 10 ga. around. 8)

Jason, go ahead and get yourself that Big Ten. I love all three of mine. Only one H&R but that's not the point.

My H&R Waterfowl special is the berries for geese. When a flock of honkers fly over, pick your bird and drop it! With the long barrel and the factory supplied chunk of steel in the butt-stock, recoil is not a factor. Not saying this to dupe you into shooting a gun that is not fun to shoot. Just my opinions. I've posted this pic before but what the heck, it's not my bandwidth. Just remember, the barrel is 32 inches.

My friend the only real solution for your situation is to buy one and enjoy it. As the others have said it's a blast to shoot and the felt recoil is not as bad as a 3 1/2" 12ga.
PROUD REDNECK CONSERVATIVE

I'd much rather be remembered for being a great shot than having the most expensive gun

Kittery Trading Post has a used 10 gauge NEF for $115 right now. I have not seen it but their descriptions are usually on the conservative side....<><.... ;)

Hell no your not nuts. I just wiped the dust off my MAB 10 ga turkey gun.  I also own a 12 ga 3 1/2 in gun (Charles Daly Maxi Mag Pump) and let me tell you it kick a heck of alot more then the 10 ga does.  I have a Tru Glow 32mm Red dot mounted on the MAB and I can get kill shots out to 50 yrds with it.  I did replace the stock choke with a comp-n-choke and it has made a world of differents.  I also brunished the barrel which really help line up the POA to the POI

Funny that you mention a tamer cause I would probably cut the barrel to 18.5" and mount a survivor stock on it.

If I had one

Gonna have to delay tho cause I just got a Savage 720 semi with polychoke
