How does the quality of a Browning model 71 compare to an original Winchester model 71..........

The Japanese craftsmanship is very, very good - but it's also a very different gun, and will never have the value of a comparable condition Winchester. Especially the Deluxe Winchester M71 with a bolt peep - unobtainium from Japan.

The polish/bluing on the Miroku's is modern, as is the stock color & finish.
The "engraving" & "gold inlays" on the Browning High Grades is the same put on their other model High grades, like the M1886's, etc. - so it's not unique to the model.

I can't put my finger on it, but I find the Winchester "livelier" in my hands than the Browning. YMMV.
