I have a Bushnell Trophy 2X6 power scope on my .223 Contender barrel, and I do like the scope for shooting varmints because of the finer then normal cross hairs.
But, the eye relief is to short for me when I crank it up to 6X - and when you're shooting at small varmints at long range you want magnafication AND long eye relief! When I do go up to 6X, I have to have more time to set up, bend my arms to bring the gun closer, then find the "target" in the small field of view. That's why most of the time I don't go over 4X.
IF the Elite had longer eye relief then the Trophy, I'd pay the extra $100. for the Elite. Since you say they have the same eye relief, I'd buy the Trophy and spend the extra money on a Harris 6"-9" pivoting head bipod. Once you use this bipod a while it's as steady as shooting off a bench, and helps a bunch when shooting on uneven ground!
