17HMR Barrels

Hey there,
I placed this question in Savage section, but no one seems to know.
I am looking at Buying a Savage 93R17 .17HMR. I was wondering if the heavy barrel available makes much of a difference.
Thanks heaps

I own neither, but suspect you would notice little difference. Heavy barrels = heavier rifle = typically more accurate, but this is an extremely broad statement and at best is probably a rule of thumb. Try the Rimfire Central website and you will get many responses to your question from those with experience with both Savage barrels.

With the minimal recoil the 17HMR has I doubt you would see a lick of difference. Buy the one that feels right to you. KN
