44 sp loads
« on: April 20, 2007, 12:24:12 PM »
I am going to start loading for the 44 sp. I will be using 180 gr Hornady xtp hp-Winchester 210gr sthp-and hard cast fp lead240gr bullets. I am not looking for a 1 powder do all, but a suggestion of powders for the 3 bullets. The loads will be used in a 2"/210 sthp, and a 5.5" for the other 2.
Thanks
Jim

Agree with" Lloyd Smale ". Unique is my first choice for most loads in the 44 Spl. In my longer barrels & the hefty loads I use 2400.

Jim;

I use Alliant Power Pistol with the same bullet as you mentioned, a Hornady 180 gr. XTP in my Freedom Arms with a 5.5 inch barrel and I'm getting 1200 FPS. out of that gun and accuracy is super. So much that I've stocked up on power pistol with 3 pounds of it.
Good Luck.

Dennis
