Rifle battery revisited and some odds and ends

  Just a couple of thoughts on my experience on this site and this forum. I can honestly say with out meeting you this is wonderful group of men and women. I almost gave shooting up and the support and encouragement was super from the good folks here. I decided to hang around and I am glad I did. The thing I really like about graybeard he doesn't put up with much nonsense here and I like the way problems are addressed. This is a group of believers as far as i can tell and that sure strikes home on the patriotism and belief in God I found here has kept my ole broke up backside here. I say that because surgery 16 or 17 will happen as soon as school lets out . I have a 15cm rectal hernia from my naval up to what feels like my chin, lifted way to many heavy things in my younger days. I just want to say thanks for the people I have met here.Now tot he second part of this, now that I have decided to hunt and shoot again I need to build a rifle battery. Here are the rifles i am considering.
1. 270Win  Savage 110E with a Mueller 3-10x44  2. 270Win H&R Ultra Comp thanks to Tim, 3, 25-06 H&R Ultra Hunter with a Pentax Gameseeker 3-12x50, 4. 243Win H&R Ultra Varmint with a Mueller 4-16x44 and lastly a Ultra Varmint in 223 with the same Mueller 4-16x44. I know most hunters think I need a large cal but because of an old head injury I don't like my head jolted to much. I will be hunting Elk, Deer, Goats, Yotes and other Varmints. What would you change??? Jess

The Savage from 270 to 308..both will jolt you pretty darn good with that stock...but the 308 will still work fine on Elk..(ask Quick ) and be more fun to shoot in your condition..Then put a good stock on it with a good recoil pad..and your good to go...If you find it too much..re barreling them is a pretty straight forward proposition..and being a short action...opens the door to even building a real nice bench gun in just about any small caliber you could want...I'm finding this out since I recently purchased a Model 10FP in 308...and look at this Mueller scope...http://www.muelleroptics.com/products/MU31044IGR.html...the red dot & #4 German reticule would be very nice in dark timber as well...

Other than that it looks good......

Your comments abouts Graybeards hit dead center.  If I had younger children, I wouldn't have any problem allowing them to read the site.

I agree with your comments also,great bunch of people on here and Greybeard does a great job and I like the way he runs it,plus he has some super help with Mac and so many others,more then I could name here.
Don't forget the 7mm08 on your list,or maybe a 260 remington,or a 6.5 well you get the idea
