45LC and 1895XLR range report
« on: April 25, 2007, 06:08:15 AM »
The 45-70 loves the Lyman 457193 sized to .460  over 28.5 grs of SR4759. One ragged hole at 50 yds. Will load more and try at 100 yds next. The Sierra 400 JSP over 19 gr of 2400 did the same.  The 45LC definitely likes heavier bullets. The RCBS 45-300-SWC does well and better than the 255 gr. Different loads were well within 1 1/2" and sometimes under 1". 45 degrees today but dry for a change.

As I understand it, the 45 colt has un-used case capacity so to be safe in the old guns out there so in this context is there a +P option/data

BTW good shooting

Most manuals have a section for ruger's (not new model vaquero's SP?) and contenders also some for lever guns. I use the ruger data for my  16 " Winchester carbine & ruger black hawk & plan on using it for the handi when my barrel gets here. You can send some heavy slugs at good vel
