picked up a used model 66 this week, stainless steel , 6 in barrel,   wow its a shooter for sure , i took it out to a friends farm , and was makin a 1gallon paint can dance with ease  at 20yds , i liked it functioned well guess its a keep , gave 250 for it

OKIE I sure wouldn't call hitting a gallon can at 20 yards a shooter but to each his own. Now if you were consistently hitting silver dollar size targets at 25 I'd say you had a good shooter.

well he bought it from me and i had it at the 25 foot pistol range we have at the range...i cut the same hole with the nest shot over and over with it...

i have a gp-100 i like but i hate to admit it, the taurus showed that ruger up. lol

i know GB deosn't like the taurus anymore, but i think we got a good one here.

My comment had nothing to do with brand but only addressed that minute of gallon can at 20 yards doesn't indicate accuracy to me. That's not to say it is not accurate only that shooting a gallon can consistently doesn't say much regarding accuracy.

In our backyard range matches for centerfire we normally shot the innner cupped area of 12 oz drink cans at 25 meters, the entire upright can filled with water at 37 meters and two liter coke bottles at 50 meters in our matches. We started them shooting five shots each at the 37 and 50 meter distances and it generally took 8 to 10 to win and then added the cans turned with bottom facing us at 25 to add to the length of matches. Most of the time we got 4 or 5 hits on those as well. I think that inner area is about 1.25" or maybe it was 1.5". It's been too long since I measured to be sure but it wasn't very large at that distance.

We'd also get any kinda small plastic pill bottle or whatever we could locate and fill them with water and shoot at 25 meters. It was a lot of fun and some of those really tiny targets sure challenged the shooters and guns. Try 12 gauge shotshell hulls at 25 meters or yards for a real fun shoot with centerfires.

I think I know where Shane is coming from tho as he is a CAS shooter and in that game that is pretty good accuracy really or certainly good enough for most any target at most any match.

i wasnt goin for  clover  cuts on paper  the other day just off hand   shootin  with a new gun, havin fun, most was shot double action , and  relativly fast  for anyone considerin accurate shooting, i was just havin fun with a new gun makin a paint can jump all over the hay field, plus iam a long ways from a  exibition shooter  hahahhahahhha  ill get it  on paper when i have time ,

those are some good ideas...i may have to try some of those targets out...
