Cheap .308 ammo
« on: May 04, 2007, 06:18:13 PM »
So I'm hoping to get my new .308 outta layaway this weekend and put it through it's paces.

Midway has "Wolf" brand 150 Gr. FMJ's for just under $7.00 a box(20 rounds).

That's way less than half of what I would spend on my go-to Whitetail round.  Naturally I wouldn't use FMJ's on WT, but I'm looking for some cheap ammo to use for breaking in the barrel.

150 Gr Remington Coreloks are just over $20.00 a box.

The rifle is a break action single shot(non-NEF though), so I'm not so much worried about rounds jamming as I am cases sticking after being fired.  Anyone got any advice, maybe some other loads I could try?

Don't have the time or place right now to work up Handloads, so I'm stuck with factory fodder.

Thanks

I am also interested in this round for the simple fact that I just bought a barrel in that round but it is a H&R NEF.
