Taurus - Great Warranty
« on: September 03, 2006, 11:36:22 AM »
I bought a beat up 38 Spl marked Taurus a few months ago.   Turns out the gun binded on 2 chambers while firing double action.  I sent it to Taurus for repair and they informed me that it was not "their" gun.  Their stamp was the importer's stamp.  Because they only imported it and did not manufacture it they had no parts support for it.  I told them to send it back and I would get it repaired locally (it's nice to live across the creek from John Linebaugh!!).   A week or so past and I called them to see if they shipped it.  They asked if they could send a replacement at no cost.   Only an idiot would pass this up so I said send it.     A few days latter a brand new model 82  38 Spl arrived 8).   I now have a new Taurus for $105 plus shipping ;D.
What a great company to stand behind somebody else's product.   I have a Titainiun 41 mag and a Ti 38 Spl. I have never had any problem with either but I know if I do that the service will be excellent.    Looking at the quality of the new model 82, I would be more inclined to buy a Taurus over a S & W.

Nice to hear that after so many bad reports from them. Maybe Tuarus is reading the posts on the net.

I have used Taurus' Lifetime Warranty twice, once each for my M66 and M44. Shipped off and in a month back in my hands and zero dollars to me, not even shipping and handling. Both work flawlessly now.

My problem is not the Warranty which they have honored, it's the fact that they were both NIB and developed problems after only a hundred rounds or so. So no more Taurus revolvers for me. My PT92 bought in 2000 just keeps on keeping on and on and on. It's a great gun.

Junk guns need a good warranty.

Sorry to be so glib, but "junk" would sum up my experience with these firearms.

Well if they're junk I guess I'd better throw out my four.   ???  Give it a rest.  If you hate them so much why are you even posting in the Taurus forum?

I had to use the warranty once and it was turned around in about 3 weeks with the problem fixed.

I have only one Taurus (a model 66 4") and I don't know if their warranty is any good or not, as I have put close to 1000 rounds down the tube without a single hiccup.  Some of these loads were really hot and the only thing that showed any effect were my hands being slapped really hard.  When I hear somebody talking trash about Taurus I just have a private little laugh at them.
