Hey Folks,   Does magnaporting affect a revolvers ability to shoot hard cast accurately?  Still learning.  Thanks,   Bill

I had my Ruger SBH ported several years ago and I shoot both jacketed and hardcast bullets in it. After the porting, it seemed to help mine in the accuracy department. Now, the help came if I was shooting hot jacketed bullet loads, but the hardcast loads I shoot are mild. So I would have to say if you're just using your revolver to shoot hardcast loads which generally tends to be milder loads, I don't know if I'd go to the trouble to have a porting job just for that. With the hot jacketed bullet loads that I shoot though, it tamed it down to where I didn't get such excessive recoil which in turn helped me in accuracy. The downside to porting is, you get a louder muzzle blast.

Sir,  So far I have not made a difference between hard cast and jacketed bullets.  I shoot them with the same loads.

Mag-na-porting is one of the better investments you can make.  It DOES make the gun easier to shoot with ALL loads.  You will be happy that you had it done.  44 Man

I'm with 44 man.  I port everything over 7mm mag in rifles and 44 mag in pistols.  I think it's well worth the expense.

Im a fan of porting, makes your day of shooting longer sometimes, cause you get less snap back on the wrist, and can also help with accuracy, as said above.

Both jacketed and cast are pushing air, and following an explosion, so it shouldnt make a difference between the two.

I wouldnt do it to all my guns, but if it makes it more comfortable to shoot, why not?
