Skunk - a couple of years ago a friend gave me a Winchester rest that I use for both rifle and pistol. It is adjustable a pretty solid. I also use a bag of shot with the rest for my wrist.
Whatever you decide on should allow both the pistol and your hand/wrist to rest on so there isn't any movement when you drop the hammer. You may also wish to use some padding for your shooting elbow, as mine gets dinged up if I don't use one. Something like an old lawn chair seat pad or a hot seat will work for that but don't forget to take it with you when you leave - I have half a dozen of those things I have found over the years that were left on the shooting benches.
If you haul a shooting bag to the range, you can also use that for a rest - I would use something to protect it from the muzzle blast though. JMHO. Mikey.
