I hunt in NE PA and have never shot over 100yrds unless I was at the range. It would make a nice compact deer gun being we drive during deer season from sunrise till dark.
I want to see some more "research" myself. ;D

"the reason is called "Ego" such as 357 sig-45 GAP and now 30 TC"

Bustedknee sez:
It seems to me the 45 Gap and 30 TC are "shortened" cartridges to improve firearm operations,
while the 357 Sig is a necked-down 40 to 9mm which actually increases cartridge performance.

Ego?

Yeah....I'd be findin a machine shop to twirl down some stock on that 209-50 if I had to carry it that much!!!

Edmund Fitzgerald......I change my by-line as the mood strikes me. Music\songs are akin to poetry...at least I think so. Especially when they make you think of events that have occurred. Men are always trying to find ways to control their enviroment. The men on the Fitzgerald gave it their best and yet still found themselves at the mercy of nature. The Students at Virgina Tech found themselves at the mercy of the insane. Yet, people in powerful positions attempted to do the right thing by reporting the insane individual to the system, only to find out the system was broken. It cost 32 innocent people their lives to bring to light the broken system. The men on the Fitzgerald could do nothing to remedy their doom. I wonder if the elected people who have the power to fix the reporting system will actually do so. I wonder if the ACLU will get put in their place. I would hope these 32 young and old lives were not lost for nothing. I pray for the young who are there now, and in the future that the cost of those souls are not sold at garage sale prices. Is there a parralell to the 29 lives lost on the Fitzgerald to the 32 lives lost at Virgina Tech? I hope not. But we shall see what the elected do.

In the end, I think the 30 TC will flop for the same reasons the WSM and WSSM's will, there was no demand for such cartridges, and any niche the 30 TC fills is more imagined than real

Well...the end isn't very near...Sales of the WSM's are still brisk around here...and there is no reason why the 30T/C won't do well either...More and more folks are joining the shooting ranks..and a-lot of these people look to see what is being said their cartridge choices...so they want something new...If the cartridge does well in the hunting fields..it will do well in sales...and the cartridge will catch on...just as the WSM's have done....It may not matter one iota to someone who is content with the 30-06 or the 308...and can't for the life of them figure out why anyone else would want one...but it will appeal to those who are interested in new technology...and the accuracy potential of the cartridge...I don't understand why some are afraid of seeing new cartridges brought out..if they aren't interested in it..don't by it...Technology has to go forward...or else it stagnates..Manufactures have to offer new products..or sales decline..this is the way of things...This cartridge will never please every one..nor suit every persons hunting needs..but it should do alright

I have to back Mac on this one. As for the WSM line, not sure if the 7wsm will survive, but the 270wsm and 300wsm will be here for the long haul. Rem. is offering it in 7 or 8 models.(270wsm) And look MidwayUSA at the number of fac loading availible for the 270wsm today compared to the 3 or 4 just 2 years ago. Ibelieve it's up to 17 differant loadings. Not a good sign of going under but of gaining popularity. Most every gun and ammo manufactor are offering larger lines in the 270wsm and 300wsm.

As for the 30TC, not really caught my eye yet, they are clouded up with the NEW 308 marlin express in the XLR lever. Lam and SS Yea Baby!!!!!

That under $1000. switch-barrel rifle you are looking for is the Savage 110.
Vote them all out, EVERY election!

Does anyone remember the scene from "Quigley Down Under" showing the aborigines lined up on the skyline as far as you could see?   That needs to be US!
