Morels should be starting soon!
« on: April 23, 2007, 11:24:14 AM »
I've heard of a few being found in SWern part of the state.  They should be popping out soon with this warm rain we had last night.  Post if you find them!

I dunno what the deal is this year, but I seached the woods of western Wisconsin extensively for the better part of last week and could only find 3 morels. And those were right next to each other.

Perhaps the little play of this thread is indicative ??

Yeah, from what I hear it was a pretty slow spring for the little buggers. Very dry by me. I found about 5 pounds of them this year, compared to about 30-35 last year.  Just fried up the last of them last night.  My 4 year old horded the bulk of them.  I had 4 quarts of dried morels last year at the end.
