opinion on browning bar mk11(?) safari

have a chance to purchase a browning bar safari model, as new. .243 win. cal.  pls. provide your opinion of this rifle.  thanks for any input.

i have this exact rifle with a 4x12 vx 3 leupold scope it is a blast to shoot
i have my rabbit record with it at 366 yards but i cant get it to group
under 1 inch at 100 yards

I have them in 25-06 and 30-06, they are great guns, never had a problem with either one. The 30-06 has the BOSS and if I do my part 3 shots will touch at 100 yards. The 25-06 hangs in around 1" with factory Rem and Win 120's. My old Remington 7400 was another story. It would jam at least twice per box of ammo, even after 2 trips back to the Remington factory. I traded it in on the 25-06 BAR and haven't looked back.

HAve one that I bought used in '06. Real shooter, not to menting that the only thing that was wrong with it was a small spot of removed blueing on the reciever. $300 with a 4-12X 50 Swift

Darn good gun, most of the ones that I have saw were in the range of $500 - $1000 used!

The fact that Browning has offered the BAR for almost ever is a huge clue to the fact it is a great rifle!

I got a BAR MKII Lightweight chambered in 30-06 in like new condition. The walnut stock doesn't even have any scratches. The alloy receiver and 20 inch barrel really make this a nice gun to carry.
I worked up a load yesterday using IMR-4895 Surplus Military Powder, Remington 150 grain PSPCL bullets, CCI-200 primers and Winchester 30-06 cases. I sized all the cases in an RCBS small base sizer die and trimmed all the cases to the same length and crimped the bullets in their cannelures with the seater die.
I worked the powder charge up until I got an average velocity of 2848 fps for 5 shots with the chronograph set up 12' in front of the muzzle. This load gave an extreme spread of 33 fps and put 5 shots into 1.187" @ 100 yards. Considering the surplus powder and Remington bullets I'm absolutely tickled with the performance I'm getting with this BAR Lightweight rifle.
Also this gun is a pussycat to shoot, I love it!

I have a new BAR II Lightweight Stalker in .243 Win. 
This model doesn't have a BOSS attached however...
 
Only 50 rounds fired but best group so far is 0.8 in @ 100 yds from Federal 85 gr Barnes triple shock.

I am very pleased with this rifle.
