Swapping barrels Handi
« on: May 20, 2007, 04:24:41 PM »
I see a lot of selling and trading of these barrels.  I tried testing the fit between two different receivers one is a handi the other a shotgun.  The barrels do not seem interchangable from one to the other.  I recently hand the handi sent out to H&R for a 357 mag barrel, and was happy with the fit and function, and was cautioned about putting any other barrel on it unless it was stamped with the numbers on the receiver.

What are the general points to these barrel swaps.  I'm no smith, and new to the Handi's.

Sometimes they fit, sometimes they don't, some will require a little alteration to make them fit. Having more than one frame helps a lot, but isn't the solutiion all the time. A lot of Handiholics buy used barrels, if they don't fit, they sell em. Others use the barrel fitting info in the FAQs to make them fit.  ;)
