Need 357 data using 296/2400

I need some data for the 357 Magnum using either 296 or 2400 and 158g Hornady XTPs. The gun is a S&W 686 4". Im not looking for high velocity, but a good, accurate load for defense and carrying around the  woods.

Hornday shows 12.4gr start to 16gr max 296 COL 1.590", Win WSPM in Frontier brass.

and 10.5gr start and 14.3gr max 2400   ditto

16g of 296 behind that bullet with a magnum primer will give you a good full house load, and unless you've stumbled into a very odd behaving gun, it should prove to be very accurate to boot.

WW296 and H110 are the same powders and their data is interchangeable.
The bullet you are using (weight and type) makes a big difference on the load so you should include that information too.
I use a Speer 140 JHP with 18.6 grains of H110. It is very accurate in my Ruger 6" Security-Six shooting cloverleaf groups at 25 yards.
It is a good compromise between velocity and terminal ballistics. It could be loaded higher but I find that this is the best load for me.
I have been using it for twenty-two years.
