I tried putting a red laser on a .22lr rifle to use at night while raccoon hunting, it seemed like a good idea at the time. During the day, I sighted my scope in at 25 yards and then tried to adjust the laser to match where the cross hairs were looking. I realize that the scope was mounted a little higher than the laser. But the trouble I had was that the threads on the adjustment screws on the laser were so coarse that I every time I tried to move where the laser was pointed, the red dot on the target would jump by inches. It was a cheap laser, but it did teach me to look and try adjusting a laser before I buy another one. For an intended use of using on a shotgun or pistol for dim light situations and a range of 10 to 15 yards, you could hit where it is pointing. Yes, I am sure that this laser could be seen several hundred yards away, but not by me.
