Can't say much about velocity, don't have a chrony.....did just get my 460 S&W mag barrel back from Fox Ridge though.  Went from a 15 to a 12 with their " muzzel tamer"  which gave me a o.a.l. of 13.125 inches.  When I originally talked to them on the phone, they said to expect a 50 % reduction in felt recoil............welllllllllllllll , not really even close.  It did help, now its probably like a loaded up 454, still something to hold on to.    Hope that helps,  Good Luck

I don't believe you are supposed to experience any loss of velocity with either system.  None of my barrels are magnaported, but I do have different muzzle brakes.  I do own the factory brake from Fox Ridge and I like it.  I had an OPS brake put on a different pistol barrel and if wasn't as effective; however that same brake on a rifle barrel did wonders.  You'll get plenty of insight here and do plenty of reading.  Good luck.

You will not lose any velocity with a magna-ported barrel, and if you add a brake to the end of your barrel you will not lose any velocity, but if the barrel and brake length is the same as the original barrel you will lose approx 100 fps due to brake length. ie   14 inch barrel with brake = 16 inches / no loss of velocity, 14 inch barrel with brake = 14 inch / loss of velocity due to the fact that the barrel is now only 12"  this is with a 2 inch brake.
