Anybody use a hogleg everyday?
« on: May 24, 2003, 11:17:04 AM »
Happy Memorial Day Weekend to all of you.

Gotta question anybody carry/use their single action everyday? Which kind? caliber? and carry method.

I use a stainless .45 Colt Ruger Vaquero in an El Paso Threepersons holster when not carried inside my waistband. Made a little pouch for an extra six rounds and shove that into my Wranglers pocket. I have had the pistol since the first year available, and have carried and used it from the Pacific Northwest, Montana, and now the Southwest, it has almost retired my Astra Terminator 2-3/4" .44 magnum.

Let me hear what y'all carry, it is kinda nice to find that I'm not the only believer in a good hogleg!

Be safe this weekend....

No I don't carry one  I live in western Pa . .I often think about how neat that would be though .  I'd carry a 4 5/8 ruger blackhawk stainless  .I don't know what caliber . Probably 45 ! We have lots of woods here . They get deer less then 200 yards  from my front door so I get to carry my 44 ruger alot if I want to . I have a carry permit but never carry around and about other then for walking in the woods and fishing . I would like to here some stories also .

Rocco,

Good choice on your pistol, only wished I waited for the .45 Colt/.45 ACP combo, could carry a Colt magazine for a thumb-push reload and the ammo is cheaper (I don't reload, yet)!

I have done a lot with this sixgun, from clearing out varmits to checking on trespassers onto my grandmother's property. When I have the unfortunate time to visit a big city never felt I needed anything else other than a levergun in the trunk.

When I go pond hopping I'll carry my 5.5 inch SS Ruger SBH in an Uncle Mike's sidekick holster. When I find some Speer shot capsules locally, I'll load up some and tote the 5.5 inch Blackhawk.

I really like my handguns!

Around my home in Massachusetts, I will often carry a Single Six with either the mag cylinder or the LR one in it. When I poke around areas of New Hampshire, Vermont and Maine I will don the 5.5" SBH . I believe that the 44 will take care of anything I come across in the New England area.
