In order to get more elevation for the point of aim, I have used the top center of the un-cocked hammer and held my cheek weld, then cocked the hammer while still holding my point of aim. It takes some practice. For this fall's deer season I have been thinking about using some epoxy to secure a rear sight to my barrel. I had checked with one local gunsmith and he thought that the barrel was too thin to drill and tap. He offered to silver solder a scope mount on the barrel but wanted about $150 by the time he mounted the scope mount and re-blued the barrel.
The other option would be to point at a spot 6" higher than where you want to hit. Are you planning on using this for deer hunting?
