Question about the NEF Ultra Varmint Fluted in .223

Now that I have one on the way I was wondering how other reload for theirs.

What is your favorite load? Do you load where the bullet touches the lands? Favorite powder and weight? Co they have long throats?

How much of POI change is there when the barrel heats up?

I have the laminated ultra varmint not the fluted, is yours a 1 in 12 twist?  Mine likes  24.5 grains of H322,remington brass,cci small rifle primer, 50 grain V-max,and the COL is 2.250 I have got my barrel pretty hot and it never changed poi, Check out my 100 and 200 yard range report its on page 2 or 3.

My 22" bull barrel just loves the 55 grain V-max over 25.5 gr. of IMR4895 and Fed. SRPs , if the barrel gets so hot that i don't want to tough it , my POI will be about 2" higher but still groups 1/2" or less .

I try to not let it get that hot but shooting P-dogs i sometimes forget to let it cool .  so i checked it that way just to be sure .

I'm shooting the same rifle. 50 gr v-max, 25.5gr Benchmark, Win brass, CCI Primers, 2.250 oal. Less than .5 inch spread at 100yds. This was the first batch I reloaded and I can't find any reason to try anything else.

I've also found that Black Hills ammo has a 50gr match hollow point that works wonders for plinking. Shoots about 3/8 inch low at 100 yds, and almost as accurate as my reloads. I find them at Gander Mountain pretty cheap, I think $11 for box of 50.

Haven't noticed any changes when barrel is hot. I just know that once you clean it well, you have to shoot about 5 rounds through it to regain accuracy.

Have a Handi Rifle with heavy barrel in .223.   It is accurate but somewhat finicky.  Also the chamber is large in diameter and the cases bulge.

I load 55gr FMJ Rem bulk with a 1/2 moa or better over 26gr of Varget and a 75gr Hornady HPBT over 24gr of Varget with recent 1/2 groups at 150yds.
1&9 Twist Ultra.

OK, my new UVF will be delivered to my FFL tomorrow. Called and told him today to "make a hole, I'll be coming in HOT" :-)
