I cant believe walmart is in business at all with some of their practices. I went to two walmarts tonight. The first one sold guns the second one didnt. I was about to purchase a versa pack. The guy behind the counter was nice enough, making conversation and such, and asks me how how old my kid is. I told him I dont have any and he looks at me with a blank look and then finally tells me "this is a YOUTH model". I told him I know and that it wasnt a problem. So he tells me that its too small for me. Again, I tell him its ok. But he argues with me, tells me he doesnt feel comfortable selling me a youth rifle and that I dont know enough about guns because I wouldnt want to buy a youth rifle for myself. I told him I was going to replace the stock with an adult size wooden one, and he tells me that modifying a firearm is illegal and that he won't sell me ANY firearm now. I talked to a store manager and they said "he's the manager of that department, he knows more about guns than anyone else here"
So I go to another walmart, one that doesnt sell guns, and saw what I thought was a really cool air rifle. I wanted to buy one, but they dont have them on the shelves, this place is so uptight that not only do they not have guns, but they keep the air rifles and bb guns locked in the display case. So they tell me the manager has gone home for the day and theres no one else there authorized to sell them. AUTHORIZED to sell a pellet gun? I explained to them that as long as you are 18, you can buy an air gun, no paperwork, no background check. They told me I obviously never purchased one before and that there was a procedure that had to be followed and that if I didnt like it, I could take it up with the sporting goods manager tomorrow. So I went and talked to a store manager who simply told me "we dont sell guns here" I tried to explain to him that it was a pellet gun, and that it shouldnt have any complicated procedures and that it was in stock becasue I just looked at it, and he kept saying "we dont sell guns here, you must be mistaken"
So, on an off topic note, I go to the pet section, looked at the fish, someone there was about to get a pictus catfish, I thought of getting a few myself. I asked the associate if he had ever "fished" any of them out before, he said no, and asked why. I explained that many types of catfish, pictus in particular can't be caught in nets without them getting caught in the net. They have spikes on three of there fins that have barbs on them, kinda like fish hooks. I suggest using one of their plastic containers that they use to scoop water out of the tank and guide them into that. Sure enough, the guy grabs a net, scoops up a fish and it gets a fin caught in the net, the guy tries to free it, basically beats the hell out of the fish in the process, and ultimately pulls the fishes fin off. Disgusted at this, I complained to the department manager. who simply argued with me "I've been around fish for a long time and I've NEVER heard of a fish you can't use a net on" I asked the guy if he wanted me to bring him books that verified it, or if he wanted me to give him some links to websites about it, or if he just wanted to go talk to the people who's little girl picked out a fish then watched the guy rip its fin off. all I got was "well Ive never heard of anything like that and like I said I've been doing this a long time.
Sorry for writing a book here, but I am SO pissed at walmart right now
