I can't count the number of shells that have gone through the Topper Youth 20 gauge I traded in yesterday. I hated to let it go, but I badly needed the money...anyways, the little bugger is older than I am, perhaps considerably. My dad got it used back in 1985 from my cousin; he broke the firing pin the first time he shot it (he was using express loads I think), had the firing pin replaced and that was that--no more problems of any kind
ever. That gun was probably made in the late '70s or early '80s, but either way, it's and oldie. I shot more game with it than any other firearm I've ever owned, and it always worked great. It never failed to eject a shell with authority, and as long as I did my part, whatever I put the bead on, I hit. I'm missing it already, but I have a replacement or two already lined up. I'm sure it'll go to a good home too....maybe if it doesn't, I'll buy it back later

So, based on my experience, you can't beat the little H&R single shots for consistent reliability; they certainly have no equals for anywhere near the price in my honest opinion.
