Question for the "Handi" Williams FP users
« on: June 08, 2007, 05:36:23 PM »
In looking for a reasonable and adjustable mount for my Dixie scope, I thought of mounting it on the top of the Williams sight for the rear.  Is there room at the top of this thing to mount a 3/4" scope ring?

Also, a question for the math types.  How much vertical adjustment is there in this sight?  How many MOA does this equate to at 100yds, if the scope is 32" long?  Space from front to rear mounts will most likely be 25-26".  Trying to see if it has enough range for 500-600yds compensation of drop for a black powder 38-55 load.

ANY help here is appreciated.

Here's a pic of the FP Target sight.

Thanks Tim
Can the peep unit be removed?  Is that a dovetail groove it's  (the peep itself) in or is it part of the top unit?  I know the whole sight mounts to the holes in the barrel.

Tim,
How much vertical adjustment does it have?

Here's a better pic of it, the index scale on the left side it ½" tall. The aperture carrier can be removed. It has enough vertical range for dodd3 to shoot 600 meters with 500gr bullets and black powder. ;)

Thanks Tim
Looking at it now, I'm wondering if it would stand up to the recoil, holding the extra weight of the scope.  Boy this is turning into a bit of work for my tired mind!  :o :-\

I cannot imagine a FP holding up the back end of any scope, except maybe on on recoilless air rifle.
I think a steel Lyman would really be pushing your luck, but the aluminum Williams I would not even think of trying, as I know I can flex it
up and down with thumb pressure, even with the vertical adjustment locked.
