Best trigger pull in a double action semi-automatic?
« on: June 01, 2007, 08:25:18 AM »
Been thinking of getting another semi-auto in 9 MM.  I have the XD compact and two CZ-75s, thinking of a Ruger, but I do like a decent trigger pull in the single action mode (hammer back) on the semi autos.

I used to have a Taurus model 92 (Beretta clone), hated the trigger and sold it.  I could always get a 1911, as I heard they are sweet with the single action trigger pull, but that would entail .45 ACP.

What is the best trigger pull on a production brand of double action semi-auto, (hammer back single action mode) with the next best, and a third best?

Thanks.

"Best" would be pretty hard for any one person to answer since they would need to have hands on experience with at least several guns of every type made just to form any sort of informed opinion.

You might want to check a Browning Hi-Power.

Why not go with a 1911 in 9mm?  I would want something a little different from the guns you already have.  Plus there is nothing like a good 1911.

There is also the Para ordinance Carry Safe pistols with a good double/single action.

Best one I own - a HK P9S but I think the nicest I've felt is the Sig P210.

Go for the 1911 in 9mm as someone else has already suggested.  Springfield and Kimber have come out with some nice models recently.

If you want a double action pistol with a good trigger try the S&W or SIG double action only guns.

My Ruger P95 decocker model has a good trigger, has been smoothed up some and a 20# Wolff spring installed. Very accurate pistol  and never any FTF or FTE's, has been perfect in the 4 years I've had it.........

My old S&W 4506 and 1006 both have very good double action triggers. Single actions are also very good. My CZ-75 has a descent double action trigger, pretty good single action trigger. My SIG 226 has very good double and single action triggers. I did put in a slightly reduced power hammer spring to lighten it a little. If you want a gun for double action, the SIG DAK guns may have the best triggers.
