.225 winchester
« on: June 04, 2007, 07:02:29 AM »
What I really wanted to do was try and find a model 70 in 225 but it has become painfully obvious that this is mostly out of my league as far as price have found a few on the net that are very nice and very pricey so I will probly continue my quest for one by searching little gun shops in hopes of the 1 in a million chance of finding one. I am thinking about having a bbl made from the custom shop pretty sure it will be a heavy bbl in ss what would the best lenght be for best accuracy in the 225. Kurt

Usually, short and stiff = best accuracy, other things being equal.  Of course, with the shorter barrel you suffer some velocity loss.  On the other hand, the .225 isn't the largest case around, so if it were me, I might try 22" or so.  YMMV.
