That sounds like a Model 70 Featherweight Classic, first introduced in 1994 with CRF (controlled round feed) ILO push-feed.
It also should have had "ribbon" checkering, which is a solid ribbon of uncheckered stock wood, weaving across the middle of each checkered panel in a french curve shape.
They sell for about $500 bareback & used, but in minty condition, here in the Northeast. I paid $525 for a pristine 6.5X55mm with a Leupold 2-7X33 scope, about 10mos ago.
