I saw a 22 mag ultra with the checkered lam stocks marked $150 on the shelf of my favorite toy store.   Is that about normal?

I'd say yes.  I bought mine for $159 at Gander Mtn.  I think WM lists them for $149.  The local gun emporium has one for $189 :o.
