GUN BAN
« on: August 13, 2006, 08:21:21 AM »
If the gun grabbers come back to town, which guns do you think will go and which ones will last??? The choices to good I think would be the AK, AR, SKS. I ones to stay I think would be the MiA, M1 carbine and the Mini 14. What do you think and in which state could this happen in. What is a person to do with these guns if they are banned???

Are Ar-15 still allowed in Maryland, after the DC Sniper shooting?

Have no doubt, the Assault weapon ban WILL be back!
It will be far worse next time. The democrats and the Anti-Gun Media
are already setting it up.. Read todays headlines on Yahoo.
Or see my post in the Military rifle (Surplus) forum,
I cut and pasted it there. High capacity ban, Ammo tax,
"Assault Weapons", They will be attacked again shortly after the Nov. Election..
If the Democraps take control, you can kiss the Constitution goodbye again...
Just remember what happened in New Orleans after Katrina before you go
giving them up..... Total Anarchy and the Cops or the Gov. couldn't do
squat about it. They say they will protect us, they prooved that they cannot!

If the gun ban comes back, hopefully the guns that are out there can be grandfathered in. My worries are that they will say you have to turn them in or go to jail. I am thinking about selling my ak, 30 carbine before that happens. If the government say's, turn them in I won't get anthing for the guns I have. If I sell them now and get things that I think won't be on there list I made out. What do you think about it?????

Who will they send to get them?
The United Nations?
Our government could not even police New Orleans after Katrina.
I no longer really fear the Government like I used to...
They have and are proving themselves to be pretty impotent.
What they can do quite easily though is make it illegal to sell ammunition.
anywhere, Sell anymore firearms, High capacity mags etc.
There are so many MILLIONS of guns and hundreds of millions of rounds of ammo
in the U.S. that they literally would be impossible to confiscate. Police agencies are so under
staffed that I simply do not think the manpower could be raised to do it.
People have seen since 9/11 that the Government can not protect them.
I have read that There have been more military styled rifles sold since the
assault weapons ban expired than there were in civilian ownership before it
was implemented. I think there would be a great deal of bloodshed in this country
if the Government started trying to make a police state out of The U.S.
If our Way of Gov't is no longer By the People, For the People, Then The U.S.
is no longer a free Nation. I know a lot of folks here in my area who would go down
fighting before they saw free America Fall into the hands of Tyrants or the U.N.
I saw after the assault weapons ban was implemented the first time how people will react.
They go underground with their activities. I also read that more militias were formed during the ban than ever before in the U.S.. This is probably true, as there are now several more In the area
where I live. I am not talking the goofball type either. These appear to be well organized and funded. There are Doctors, Lawyers, Police, National Guard, Army, Marines, etc. in these groups.
There is one group in the county beside mine that appear to be funded well enough that they issue a standardized weapon to their members? An army Colonel founded it from what I can find out.
They have a firing range on some private property that is close enough to hear on Saturday afternoons... They Practice a lot, I can assure you..
I used to work in law enforcement myself, And I can assure you that I would have quit my job
before I would have destroyed the Constitution that our country is based on. I would not have taken away or allowed anyone to take away my family's means of defending themselves either.
I would bet that deep down, most Officers feel the same way.

I live in Illinois, one of the most anti gun states.  My motivation for buying an AR recently was to be "grandfathered" if they do end up banning them.  Trying to take take away something you bought legally violates the second and fourth amendments.

ARs are still allowed in the People's Republik of Maryland.  Heavy barrels are over-the-counter w/FBI check. Regular barrels are 'regulated weapons,' as are all handguns. Go figure!? Waiting period in MD has been since the mid-60's, primarily due to 'mail-in only application' process to state police.  AR was actually a very poor choice given their MO.

If the Demoncrats get conrol of both houses, they won't make the same mistake twice and put a sunset law in to an AWB.  They will most likely ban the manufacture, ownership and transfer of all the previous assault weapons and anything that has been built with a kit like FAL's, AK's and AR's.  I would also expect them to to bad all 50 cal BMG rifles like Barretts, AR-50's etc and they will  most probably ban any type of gun that has a pistol grip like Benelli tactical and turkey shotguns as in their mind they have no "sporting" use to measure up to the '68 GCA sporting requirement.  If the antigunners really have their ear then they will attemtp to ban all semiautomatic weapons and all rifles with scopes as they are sniper weapons in their mind.  If you doubt what I am saying read some of the antigunners plans on the web if they get the Demoncrats back in office.  At a minimum the AWB will be back without a sunset law.

Gregory, I live in Illinois too for now. Don't know where you are but in cook county they are putting a referendum on the Nov. ballot that says " For the health and wellbeing of our children and the safety of our neighbourhoods, should the state of Illinois ban the sale, manufacture and ownership of military style weapons"
Un frickin believable. Who worded this? Who decides that this drivel can go on the ballot?
It is a nonbinding referendum but with the way it's worded, every blue haired old lady is going to say yes. How can you say no to keeping kids safe? And then watch what happens. If you are in the Chicago area please advise all your friends and neighbors to vote no to referendum #1

When Obama wins (and he will), he and his Democratic house and senate will undoubtedly try to push a ban on all semi-auto weapons.  Gun manufacturers and owners will throw tons of money into fighting this, then some jacka$$ will do something stupid WITH A GUN...and the bill will pass.

We do it to ourselves.

That's yet another downside of having GW in for 2 terms.  The public blames the Republican party for everything that has gone wrong under HIS regime...now we are going to swing back to where we were (and beyond) with Clinton.
The problem with troubleshooting is....sometimes it shoots back!

I live in Illinois also. I will not voluntarily surrender anything. Take away guns from law abiding citizens and the criminals will have a hay day. say If ALL guns were gone. people would still kill each other with knives, rocks, and sticks. A gun doesn't make a person a killer. A person makes a gun, knife, rock or stick a killer.

The mistake I suspect they'll be hesitant to make twice is putting the US gov behind an AW ban.  That cost them the legislature before.

The communists in the Dem party will instead attack America on the state level, by attacking our sovereignty and weaving international authorities into our government.  They will also have to weaken the constitution as a whole, not just pinpoint the 2nd Amendment.

If they go for the 2nd Amendment now or anytime soon, it won't work and they know it.  It'll be more like stealing your house one board at a time; the excuse is that the crime is too small to matter, but it'll keep happening.

Well, this is about enough to make me take my monitor and throw it. I can't believe someone worded it that way. That is not a referendum, that's an opinion piece.

More like:

"For the health and wellbeing of our children and the safety of our neighbourhoods, should the state of Illinois ban the sale, manufacture and ownership of military style weapons neo-socialist busy-bodies who march to the orders of Big Mother, and let us defend our own g****** families without those idiots butting in all the time."

dwtim, believe me I felt exactly the same way. Now the jerks in office in northern illinois are pushing for an assault weapons ban. Luckily this has failed in the past as the rest of the state is very pro gun.

I'm here in Florida and we even have some nra approved dems, so i am not too worried here to tell you the truth,

plus most politicians know now that a wedge issue like gun control can be political suicide.

In addition, I heard someone from the dnc say after the elections were over that the gun isssue is off the table, so don't everyone get overly paranoid about big brother just yet:  this country has much bigger problems to deal than you and your bushmaster killing paper and cardboard on Saturdays.

just my opinion

The "I'm in Florida and it's pro gun so I'm not gonna worry"attitude is precisely the reason these people even have a foothold now.If it happens even in Kalifornia,it will eventually effect us all. It's like a cancer. The whole country is in a state of emergency whether you believe it or not.Look around you.People are fat, comfortable, and dependant, and no I didn't mis-spell,they are just that,DEPENDANT.When you have people who have no moral character,no backbone and no ethics.you have basically slaves to the system, who would do anything, and give up anything to stay comfy and to continue to be cared for by the man.If our fellow Americans are having their rights taken away Anywhere, then we as one should stand up and make as much noise as is necessary on their behalf, because sooner or later if we don't,it won't be Bob in Illinois who's having trouble....It will be all of us.Whether we realize it or not, every time our kids turn on the tv and/or go to school they are having that liberal, anti-freedom ,globalist message screwed into their head a little at a time and if we don't teach them differently in the home,it will be over for us sooner than we think. The fight is here and now people,we'd better face it before it's too late.Remember,an inch given is an inch lost.

And yes like the other gentlemen said they tear your house down one board at a time, nail by nail until next thing you know your sitting outside wondering how the H_ _ _ _  it happened !  right under you nose!!!

Dems will always say that gun control is not going to be an issue and that it is off the table.  They hope that the people who look after their rights under the 2nd amendment will breath a sigh of relief and go to sleep.

Never quit.  Never rest. Stay nervous.  These folks are always dreaming, always watching for a new opportunity.  Do not give them an opening.  If we are not repelling the latest assault, we need to be repairing the erosion from prior assaults.

Never forget that we will never "win".  There will always be someone that wants to to have more power relative to you and the easiest way to become more powerful than you is to take away some of yours.

I have sworn to "Support and defend the Constitution of the United States of America from all enemies foreign and domestic", and have gone into harm's way to do so.  If the would be tyrants take away the Constitution, there is always tooth and claw.

"Tooth and Claw" I agree with that statement !
But People have become so complacent that it may be a lot
easier to strip them of their rights without a fight. Those who buck the system DIE!
Look at WACO and Ruby Ridge as examples...  Would enough people actually stand and fight to hold onto their right to keep and bear arms to make a difference ?
I seriously doubt it.. Start to take their Cell Phones and I-pods though and a revolution would begin !  I fully believe we are the last generation of Americans to truly be free !!

I moved out of Illinois two years ago because of this nonsense.  Cook County runs the state, at least the northern half, and between Mayor Daley and Gov. Blagojevich, the constitution no longer matters.  Now I live in Missouri, where CCW is finally legal, and I'm proud to be here.

For those who have read "Unintended Consequences", the fix is simple.  Start killing the most rabidly antigun politicians, and the rest will "See The Light."  Getting a right-thinking prosecutor involved, to charge a few of these idiots with Treason, for violating their oaths of office would also be a good idea.

Followed by Public Hangings, and new elections a week later.

That might get their attention.  I think there are enough old codgers, fed up with Uncle Sam, to let them know they're facing Civil War if they don't get their tentacles off of us.  How many cops and Nat'l Guardsmen are they willing to sacrifice?  We might find out.  Congress only has 535 members.  If about 100 of them suddenly turned up missing or dead, the others might remember who they're supposed to be serving!

And if they were to bring in U.N. Troops, all I can say is that those pretty blue helmets make REALLY easy targets.

The U.N. is a joke..
I don't think it would be necessary to use the Blue Helments
for targets, Just take a big dump on their shoes and it would
probably be enough to send them fleeing... Pop off a good
fart for good measure just in case one or two were overly brave...
On a different note,
There are a couple of local militia groups around here that I have no doubt will fight
for their freedom . One by all accounts is bigger than all the town police forces and Sheriff's departments in this county combined and are extremely well financed.
I am sure there are some in other states also, but how would public opinion be if they did fight.
They would be made out in the media as a bunch of gun toting idiots and the real reason
for their fighting would be so far down played that no one would notice.
As for me, I will be on the side defending the original Constitution of the United States.
Which-ever that side may be..

They were already starting before this even happened.... Now other countries are getting in on the act to try and get the government of the U.S. to make us into "SUBJECTS" instead of citizens...
I just wonder what world opinoin would have been if an armed citizen had stopped this tragedy...
I blame the ANTI- gun folks for this... It is truely a shame that those folks were not allowed the means to defend themselves.. The Police sure didn't appear to be trying to do anything, They were just standing around outside while he was inside shooting helpless, unarmed people...
This is not a Gun control issue, it is a "WHAT ARE POLICE FOR?" issue.... Police must have changed a lot since I was in law enforcement.. I remember one incident of an armed Psycho being fortified into
a house and the Sheriff had to hold several deputies back after the first shot was fired. Like a pack
of wild dogs going after this guy... Looked to me like a total loss of nerve on the part of the police
in this terrible tragedy... .

This month's American Rifleman has an article about a court decision that we will be hearing a lot more about - It has been determined that the second amendment does cover individual rights and that the Washington DC ban on pistols is unconstitutional. Expect to see it go to the supreme court but they have already determined that it is an individual protection that the government did not give and therefore cannot revoke - not even in WA.DC!
Once this goes to the supreme court all of the bans will be thrown out.

Watching TV this morning while reading the newspaper, I heard gun control mentioned.  Newt Gingrich was being interviewed, he really impressed me with his comments on gun control and punishment.  A while latter, they interviewed a dumbocrap hopeful, he admitted that gun control cost the dumbocrap party the last three elections, and will likely do so again.  Of course, there was Shara and Jim Brady, still on their soap box.

The recent incident at Virgina Tech is likely to bring out the pros and cons in booth parties, hopefully we can see what is what, and who is who before the next election.

In view of what may happen to our gun rights, I think it is very important for every gun owner to belong to the NRA.  Are you a member?

I couldn't agree more with the following:

"I have sworn to "Support and defend the Constitution of the United States of America from all enemies foreign and domestic", and have gone into harm's way to do so."

I've been there and done that too.  Most Liberals don't understand how to think tactically in my opinion.  The DC Sniper a few years back kept the whole country in terror using "accuracy" shooting, not "full auto" shooting.  I'm more worried about the guy that only needs one shot than I am the guy that wants to climb the "clock tower and go nutts.  If there was a way to ensure the crazy people would loose their guns and the good guys could keep theirs I'd support it because I don't want somebody going crazy and hurting anyones family.  The hard reality is that only law following citizens would be loosing their guns if a ban took place, not criminals or future criminals.

I want to know where it all ends.  Where does the line get drawn in the sand?  The lever action rifle was once a huge military advantage to have, now a lever action 30/30 is considered an all American classic and part of our nations history, be it good or bad.  It's the same old story between hunters that complain about what the other guy is using too.  The guys carrying a semi-auto hears it from the guy with a bolt action, the guy with a bolt action hears it from the guy with a lever action.  The guy with a lever action hears it from a guy with single shot, and the guy with a single shot hears it from the guy that only uses a muzzleloader, and he hears it from the bow hunters.  At what point do we have to start using spears for target practice and hunting again?

The M-16 & AR-15 have been around for generations now and have served our country for years.  My uncle carried one in Vietnam and I carried one in Iraq.  My AR-15 locked in my cabinet is a part of where I've been and what I've been through, and I'm keeping it!

If a ban does go through, I hope I get enough warning to go and max out my credit card.  Nuff said.

yup the gun ban is coming and im gonna be prepared. im gonna buy an ak 47 and an sks and as much ammo as i can possibly afford(just incase they try and outlaw 7.62 x 39 ammo). at first my wife thought i was nuts but id rather be paranoid then unprepared. im also stocking up on supplies ie... magazines, food, fuel, a parts kit, and as much stuff to keep my life "normal" if digging in is the last option. as messed up as everything has gotten these days, with all the illegals flooding over the borders, and the prices for fuel and threats of dismembering the constitution, its possible that history could repeat itself if americans get fed up with the current system. i know that if they place a ban on weapons theres gonna be alot of sheep willing to give up there freedoms, but im sure there will be enough pure bred, red blooded americans willing to put up a fight. look at all the problems we are having with the guerrilla fighters in iraq. im sure we as americans would be even harder to knock down if _ _ _ _ hit the fan here. i read somewhere that thomas jefferson said that atleast every hundred years there should be a revolution to keep the goverment honest and from where im sittin its long overdue.
they can try and take my guns....but i aint givin' em up until all my shells are gone or i quit breathing.
