Another Ebay A- hole (contender related)
« on: May 22, 2007, 10:57:39 AM »
I "won" an ebay auction for a (taken from the auction) "used Thompson Center Contender Super 14 .223 blued pistol barrel with Weaver base .This barrel is in excellent condition"  Item number: 130111805438
I just got the barrel and started cleaning it and looking it over. right off the bat I noticed rust spots all over the barrel and that they have been touched up with cold blue so they would not show up in the pictures, I was not happy but I was going to send it out to SSK and have them krome it for me. Then I checked bore and chamber and found rust in the chamber it is easily seen so he could not have noticed it. but yet didn't say anything about it
I sent this guy (chadrick dunlap) and email telling him about this and I want all my money back + the money to send this barrel back to him. he wrote back saying "If you want to send it back I will be glad to refund you the amount you paid for the barrel less the shipping price. For a used Contender barrel this is in excellent condition. I will refund your money when I receive the barrel. thanks" and "Once we step back to reality it will be realized there was no gross misrepresentation. Business was conducted in good faith. You may have your bid back. Nothing else. You purchased a used product after viewing an accurate photo. Feel free to take up your grievance with EBay. I'm sure they will agree with my position. Thank you. Sorry you feel the way you do."

I am giving him one last chance before I contact ebay and paypal about this

Hey guys how about helping me convince him to do the right thing, he could have done this to any one of us
I am only asking him to refund the $167.47 + $10 to cover shipping, insurance and delivery conformation numbers back to him

This is the guys
ebay name: ckdandjsd,
His email address: XXXXXXXXX@netzero.com
and his contact information

If you are foolish enough to send the barrel to him BEFORE you have the money in hand then you deserve what you're end up with ie., no money and no barrel. If he is dishonest once he will be dishonest twice. Do as you wish but to return it before you have money in hand is asking to be screwed twice.

my best advice to you would be to let ebay deal with it. They really frown on bad deals and usually make sure everything is done about the board.

If you paid with paypal, you can file a complaint and they will freeze his account until you indicate that all issues have been resolved to your satisfaction. If he decides to be uncooperative paypal will/should/might refund your money from his account. That way you can send the item back; make sure you have proof of sending it back and that he has received the item. It worked for me in the past.

I already filed a complaint with ebay and I got this back
"Dear Richard,

Thank you for writing eBay in regard to Item #130111805438 that you
purchased and received but was not as advertised.

I recognize your frustration and want to quickly and responsively
address your concerns.

I've reviewed your report about ckdandjsd. I can assure you that eBay is
investigating this matter and will take appropriate action based on the
results of the investigation"

I did as i told him I would and sent the barrel back I sent it back insured and with delivery conformation so I will know when he gets it. I have saved all the emails from him as well as eBay.  If I do not get my money back I will be filing a complaint with his local PD as well as the us post office for mail fraud.

this guy has  3 other  barrels for sale all enncores:
1) T.C. Encore 26" 20ga Barrel w/Walnut Forend
2)  T.C. Encore Custom Shop 15" 6.8mm Barrel w/Base & Rings  (this one was listed as belonging to a friend)
3) T.C. Encore 12" 480 Ruger Barrel w/ 2X Leupold Scope

If you paid via paypal you can notify them of the situation and they will give you a refund then go after him to get their money back.  They offer a gauranty like that.  The only problem I see with that is paypal will not authorize payments for firearms so I don't know what their take is on a contender barrel.  Either way if you don't get your monety back directly from him they should be able to get you a refund since the transaction already went through.

you can use paypal for firearms parts and stuff like bullets and such and if you get preapproved by them you can even use paypal for firearms

You need to leave him "negative" or "neutral" feedback so other who are thinking of dealing with him will know what they are possibly getting into.  You can say that he did refund your money but the item was grossly misrepresented in the description.

You could leave him a negative feedback, but them he could leave you one as well. eBay is really a buyer beware type deal. I got cheated on a book once and left a negative feedback. The seller left me a negative feedback in turn. All over a $1.00 book. Once a feedback is posted, the deal is done. Just a word of advice.

And just to go a little farther; you got you money back. Granted you had to fight for it but that's life. A number of years ago I purchased a barrel from Ron's TC. Great guy. Stood behind his mistake. Made me a sweet deal on the next barrel I purchased. Ed's screwed me and at that point I stopped collecting and sold off my collection. I've had numerous deals with Ed that went great. One thing really didn't anything to do with the other. The point is that anyone can make a mistake and/or screw you. It sounds like your guy finally did the right thing.

When I was selling off my collection, I sold a barrel to a guy through eBay and he made claims about the barrel I knew were not true. I told him to send me back the barrel and I would send him everything that he'd paid including shipping and insurance both ways. He didn't want to. In fact he questioned my attitude. We finally agreed that I would send him a small amount of money and he was happy. You can make your own judgement as to the type of eBayer he was.

WELL... MY EXPERANCES WITH E-BAY DO NOT ALWAYS LEAVE ME SMILING...BUT PAY PAL IS ALTOGETHER A DIFFERENT MATTER . IN ONE INCIDENT I ORDERED 1,000 38 SLUGS ANS 1,000 45 SLUGS , USED PAY PAL AND WAITED FOR MY STUFF . THE BOX I RECEIVED WAS BEAT TO HELL AND BACK . IT CONTAINED ABOUT 17 RIFLE  BULLETS . LOOKED LIKE 30 CAL . AND A BUNCH OD EMPTY BOXES AND PAPER . NO OTHER BULLETS . PAY PAL WILL NOT TOUCH IT BECAUSE IT IS "GUN RELATED" !!! I FINALLY GOT BACK AT HIM , BUT PAY PAL WAS MORE OF A STUMBLING BLOCK THAN HELP . AND YES WE LEFT EACH OTHER NEGATIVE FEED BACK !~?
AND THOSE IN THE CHOIR SAID 'AMEN ! '
