1895CB shooting very high
« on: June 18, 2007, 01:35:22 PM »
I took my 1895 along to the mountains yesterday with my Dad and we were sighting it in and found that at 60 yards we were 22" high with no more room to adjust.  I was using the stock front sight with a williams FP reveiver sight, I bought a .343 front blade as a backup if this one didnt work, but now I dont think that will even be low enough  would a .250 be better, or do I need to go lower?

You've got things a little backwards, or mixed up. It can get confusing.

The front sight should be adjusted in the opposite  direction, from the way the POI must be adjusted.

The rear sight should be adjusted in the same direction the POI must be moved.

If your peep is all the way down, and the .343 front still gives you a POI that's 22"high, the .343 is gonna have to be switched out to a .500, or more.

You definitely need a  higher front sight blade , and the correct height can be calculated, using Brownells Sight Height Calculator. (click/scroll)

You're welcome!

BTW - I'd like to apologize, for coming on so strong in my earlier reply. I was having a bad day - but that's not an excuse - it was just uncalled for.   Sorry, totallycustom.
