bore brush?

Do any of you guys use a bore brush on your rifles? I bought a nice stainless steel brush to use on my 7mag Encore but was told this is a no-no... I did use it one time but my gun seams to be shooting fine... ???

I use the dewey no harm bronze brush from midway. I think there is a risk of overscrubbing the bore with a stainlesss brush, but I'm not sure how much validity there is behind this.

I used to use bore brushes including stainless steel a lot but quit using any brushes at all in favor of just cotton patches with the likes of Barnes CR-10 and Big Bore cleaner on them.  I can get my barrels immaculately clean with reasonable effort with no brushing at all.  I don't think I damaged any of my barrels with brushing them though.
