Getting the proper fitting grip makes a ton of difference

I got my contender old style a couple of years ago.  It came with a standard black plastic finger grooved grip that never fit me.  i tried a pacmayer but it made opening the action harder.  i modified it to try and resolve the issue and made it uncomfortable to shoot, but it opened easier.  I order off Ebay the other day one of the early generation grips that makes the contender look kinda like a Buck Rodgers blaster. With the flat rectangle plate.  MAN what a difference!  It adds more angle to the grip and lessens the distance to the trigger. I can now actually shoot it accurately one handed something i could never attempt before.  Getting a comfortable grip that fits your hand is crucial to accuracy.  The Contender in pistol format is now fun again for me.  I had kinda given up on the pistol format and have been concentrating my effort on the carbine format.  I actually want another frame now to use as a dedicated pistol format.

I know exactly what you mean! I got a left hand target grip from T/C years ago, and that made all the difference for me!

I agree. I shoot target with my .22 pistol, and while the grips on my Buckmark were attractive, they did not really fit me. I built a set of grips that fit and added 10 points to my average score. I don't have a problem with my Contender's grip, but still might try to do one just as an experiment.
