Cleaning and Lubing the Single Action Revolver?
« on: June 13, 2007, 06:46:03 AM »
Other than the normal cleaning of the bore and cylinders what is recommended in additional cleaning-lubing and how often?  Wiat internal parts may need occasional attention?  Can these be lubed without taking the gun apart?  I can handle removing the cylinder and clean-lube the bore-cylinder-base pin but would rather not disassemble the gun further if not needed or recommended.

Unless you fire black powder loads in your single-action revolver, routine detailed dis-assembly is not needed.

Black powder firing residue is hygroscopic, and causes rust.

a shot of aerosol or finger pumped lubricant into the moving parts is all that is needed.  I like CLP, but most any lubricant is okay.
