1841 lunch box mortar
« on: June 11, 2007, 04:33:20 PM »
hi folks, if the picture goes through??? this is my newest project. 1841 mortar, shoots 460 grain .577 minnie bullets on top of 50 grains FFFg goex. i can't help it, i like small cannons and mortars too! plus they remind me of being a kid, well i'll always be a kid. plus i only have a small lathe, might get a big one sometime. now i know bigger is better, plus there's the whole ego thing. the camp battery has five full size guns,2-6pd bronze guns, 1-12pd. bronze field howitzer, 1- 10pd. parrot rifle, and 1-3in. ordanance rifle. the owners have all the ego and bragging rights in the world. but one thing they can't do is put one in a lunch box! plus with a small working model, the first remarks are usually- well ain't that a cute little thing. until it goes off- then the cussing starts, ended by- how could something that small be so loud and make so much smoke???
PALADIN had a gun.....I have guns, mortars, and cannons!

What are the laws regarding CCA (Carrying Concealed Artillery)?

Very nice looking piece.

hi BILL, not really sure about concealed artillery laws. but here in virginia i have a concealed handgun permit. thus- since the mortar can be held in my hand??? well, i don't know, i guess i could tell the cops it's not a mortar- it's a wood based handgonne.i'm just sure they would know what i mean???  and for you other guys out there reading this- no i don't hold it in my hand and shoot it. i guess it could be done, but i think it best to set it on the ground

We just need to SET a date and figure out a place.

I'm taking the WEEK of the 4th off (to remodel a bathroom), so there's plenty of opportunity there.  Before then is OK too.

There might could be some other folks that would like to join us, so the options of location include Blacksburg, Radford, Wytheville and some others (like maybe Willis).

I'll start a new thread - look for the NRV.
