new vs old barrels

I am wondering if a guy ordered a 38-55 barrel what the odds would be of getting an old troublesome one vs a new Marlin made barrel of decent spec.

That's a very good question, same goes for the 44Mag! It depends on how many they have in inventory I suppose. You could call RR and ask em when they got theirs in, if they came in recently, you'd stand a good chance of getting a late production model, maybe you'd have a choice to pick from by serial number too. Below is Handirifles specs on his Target.

Thanks.Tim. Good advice as usual. I am just cautious about them.I suppose I could get a 444 and wait for them to all be the new barrel. ;)
