laser sight

i have a beretta model 1934 and i have a laser sight on the trigger guard and i have used if for coyotes at 30 yards or less. Have you used small guns or lasers for hunting. Just a word about this guns, when i got it it looked like it would not fire. There was rust on a lot of the steel , there was clay in the barrel , no mag, and it need some TLC. well most of it was just skin deep so after some sand paper and WD40 and lots of cleaning i got it shooting. It shoot well and has not jam on me. I have fired corbon  DPX ammo in it to and it works with it.

Nope, lasers aren't legal for hunting in most states, FL included....

I thought it was here on guns? I asked FWC but i don't know. I send a email but i think its legal for hunting here.  Still have you used a small gun like a 380auto for hunting?

No, but if you are accurate enough with it, you could hunt small game, relatively close up.  Definatley not for hogs or deer, though.

Most 380's are hard to shoot very well...in my opinion

jamaldog87:  be careful of using those cor-bons in that old Beretta.  The Model 34 is a classic, but a very old classic and cor-bon ammo is higher pressure and may damage the piece.

Can the 380 handle a coyote - yes, if you are close enough. 

I have not hunted with a laser sight but considering the rudimentary sights on that Model 34, the laser sight might not be a bad idea - at least you know where your bullet will hit. 

I don't know if laser sights are legal to hunt with where you are located so you should best check to make sure you stay out of trouble. 

Yes, I have hunted with the smaller pocket pistols and have hunted with the 380.  I wouldn't exactly call it hunting, being out in the forest (jungle, actually) with a 380 with a couple of extra magazines and a box of ammo, shootin' at anything that moved and was edible; but small monkeys, kotamundi, any number of turkey buzzard, a whole bunch of large snakes, tons of land crabs, a number of turtles and even a few small crocs were taken with the 380. 

Back then I was using a Walther and handlocading my 380s with a cast 95 gn swc that worked well in the pistol.  Mikey.

this is what FWC said " Thank you for contacting the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC). You may not use a laser sight on a bow during archery season. During other seasons or on a firearm (rifle and handgun included), it is allowed." anything below a 38 is small game. I have stopped used that 380+p because it kicks really hard. that yote die because i was there and they were pest and i saw one and it die. I have been useding PREMIUM PERSONAL DEFENSE, Golden Saber, Super-X  Silver tip and anything in JHP.

jamaldog87:  you may wish to check out the Wolff Springs in PA for a new set of recoil springs for that Beretta.  Judging by the condition you said it was in when you got her I'll bet the springs are original and should be replaced.  Mikey.

You mean your actually using a laser light that projects a dot, to hunt with? Can't see the practicality in that. Or maybe, your talking about a red dot scope that the dot can only be seen from the back of the scope?
A laser beam is a single beam of light. Very expensive machine to project this. Most of the laser sights for handguns on the market today have a beam that spreads with distance(even the construction grade one do), the real ones don't.
Of course, how do you expect to see an 1/8" dot at any distance?

it's a close range gun. A small 380 is not a long range gun so most of my shots with my gun are maybe 30 yards at most. it like this kind

Getting to within 30 yards of any coyote is a feat of hunting skills that I don't possess. I have killed many coyotes in my day but never been able to get that close? Most that I've seen while hunting were 100-200 yards away in distance from my position? What hunting techique are you using to get to this distance? In another thread on this forum, I stated I wouldn't hunt coyotes with any thing less than a .357 magnum. My congratulations on your stalking abilitilies.

coyotes are not that hard to kill, I killed them with my slingshot and that only has the power of a 32 or light 38, there no technique. No one really hunts them but they follow hunter, to get the left overs, so all you got to do is find a nice spot to hide in and blow a crow or rabbit call and you got yote. also my stalking abilities are so-so, I am still learning, but i find game and make kills. I am better at pest and small game then big game.
