any of you guys using the 7mm/08.I am looking at it for a good all around rifle.I am a little concerned about the 1in 10 twist thanks Doug

I have one but I have only shot 2 rounds through it.
Will kill a red brick:)
Nice light kick though, even with synthetic stock.
Looks good on paper.

Mine shoots real good for the first couple shots, the last trip out it still had a problem after the second shot, but it's been a while since it went to the range, have one more trick to try on it to eliminate the 3rd shot flyer!! ;D

What is "all around" to you?  My wife and I have both had great results on deer, black bear, and caribou with the 7-08. Variety of cup & core 139-140s for deer, 160 Partitions for black bear, and a 150 TSX for caribou. My son will probably take it sheep hunting next year and I'm thinkin' a 140 TSX will do fine. Don't think I'd use it on moose or brown bear though.

Thanks guys  ,I am still trying to convince myself I do not need to send a 243 barrel to Wayne York and have him make it a 260Remington. I as you know can get a 7mm/08 for around $118.00, but  then again I can always drive to Wayne's place  decisions decisions .    I really want a 6.5x55 but do not have a barrel that will clean up.  Doug  :-\ :-\

Turning a .243 into a .260 Rem may not be an option, the .243 chamber is already bigger than the .260 in all dimensions except to the shoulder, it would have to be a min spec chamber 243, and even then I think it would be questionable. Have you checked with Wayne on it? There may not be enough bore difference either going from 6mm to 6.5mm.

I had not considered that problem Tim,I may have to find a 223 barrel to use as a donor barrel.   problems problems  problems    Doug ???

I have read very little about the 260, but I thought it was based on the 308, same as the 243.  How did it end up smaller than the 243 and 308?  More importantly, why would Remington have done that?  It's rim looks rebated in that drawing.

I also thought the 260 was also a necked down 308 also the 243 the 7mm-08. The 358 win and 338 fed was necked up 308. Am I missing something?

Apparently Steve's Pages is wrong, Ammo Guide shows the dimensions are close to the same as the 243. Still doesn't help the bore dimension difference tho, so the 223 donor would be the donor barrel of choice.

I have a buddy that has the handi in 7mm-08.  His shoots very well.  Hornady light magnums will shoot 1.5" at 100 yards.  For factory ammo, that is pretty darn good in my book.

Doug, before you sell the .243 barrel, give Wayne a call or email and ask him for his opinion on the bore, .243" to .264" may be just fine.
