I need some good bullets or a mould
« on: June 16, 2007, 06:02:53 PM »
Forgive me for posting here but because of the circumstance I feel you guys are the best to ask. I just bought a Muzzle-loader barrel that is .458, it is 32" long, and it is 1-18 twist. Because it is .458 and 1-18 twist I figure it is more like a BPCR than a regular 45.
I want to shoot 45-70 type bullets in this barrel. I would like the small end to be 400 gr and the big end to be about 550 gr.  Do you guys have any Ideas for me. I am planning to use this barrel for target, deer, and Antelope.   Thanks   Ron

If your going to shoot that as a muzzle loader ,i would try a bullet thats .451.I think Pedersoli has a mould for there Gibbs target rifle that is that size .You might also try a Paper patched bullet .Either way they need to be fairly soft so they will bump up to groove diameter when firing .Arnie
