I ordered a Ruger Hawkeye in 7mm-08 yesterday. I already have a bunch of Hornady 139 gr. bullets (for my 7mm WSM) that I thought I would try.
Does anyone have a load that they would recommend for 7mm-08? How about a powder that works well with the 139/140 grain bullet?

I use 748 or IMR 4064 in my Rem 788(18 1/2" barrel) with 140's. I have also had a lot of success with 120's on deer. I have NOT really found a combination that my gun doesn't like. Ground hogs to BIG deer, it just works!

I have a model 7 and ruger frontier that shoots little bitty groups with 42.3-42.5 grains H4895, same bullet you are using, 2.8 COL.

I've got a Rem 700 Mtn LSS and a 7600 both in 7mm-08.
Both rifles get MOA or better with 154 GRN Hornady RN on top of 47.5 Grn H414. This is my "woods" load.
I also shoot a 145 Grn Speer HotCor on top of 48 Grn IMR4350 in the Mtn LSS. This is a SUB MOA load with great balistics and performance on game. Haven't worked this load up for the 7600 yet but definitely intend to.
I've also gotten good Sub MOA accuracy from 140 Grn Sierra SBT's and 140 Grn Accubonds both on top of Varget.
