taurus 17c 17hmr revolver
« on: June 21, 2007, 04:35:45 PM »
recently purchased a taurus 17-hmr revolver.  when i tried to sight it in (18 rounds) i notices that the necks were expanded and two even split.  i sent it back to taurus.  they returned the revolver with a note "note from gunsmith - our 17c revolvers are designed to expand the bottle necks when fired for easier extraction".
also a note "firearm needs to be cleaned after each use".  18 rounds?
the revolver doesn't shoot worth a damn.
has anyone else had this experience?  is it really normal for this gun to do this or are they feeding me mushroom chow?
put em where you want em

I purchased one when they first came out, it shot great, a real tack driver, but sold it when they got real hard to find for more then I paid for it. (I am really into big bore guns). I never noticed any cracked cases but dont think I really looked for them.

I am surprised that you got them to respond to you.  Maybe Taurus is improving their customer relations after alot of bad press and experiences by other shooters.
