One tough dude

Seems this fellow was attacked by a rabid bobcat.......and choked it to death with his bare hands.

I remember the time I grabbed an angry house cat.....still have the scars on my forearms......I'll admit it.....I turned it loose pretty quick! :-[

About 35 years ago my ex-wife and I got to feeding a feral house cat on our front porch. We had seen the cat foraging and had started out by leaving stuff on the porch. As time went on we were able to get closer, but never tried to touch it. One evening I looked out the screen door and saw him standing on the porch. I got something out of the kitchen and took it to him. When I sat it down in a bowl, the cat attacked me and bit me on the hand. Instead of scaring me, it made me mad, and I went into the bedroom, retrieved a 357 magnum (I know overkill, but hey I was mad remember), and went back to the door. The cat had landed in the flower beds after the scuffle, and was still there. I put his lights out, and the neighborhoods lights on.
Then I spent the next 6 weeks worrying about rabies, but too cheap to go the doctor for the then, series of very painful shots. Since then I don't feed feral house cats. I just shoot them all.

DEE. My sentiments exactly, I hate cats. We feed birds year round. When they get spooky I know theres another fluffy piece of vermin around. A 22 sits by the front door. I'd much rather see rabbits, squirrels, chipmunks, and birds than a CAT. I eliminate every one I see. No reason for a cat to roam freely in the country. POWDERMAN.  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Several years ago, an "older" lady who lived on the Chadbourn Ranch (Near Bronte, TX, where old Fort Chadbourn is located) stopped on a small bridge, got out of her pick-up and started towards her mail box, about half way there a Bobcat came out from under the bridge and attack her.  She too strangled the cat and suffered a lot of scratches and bites, the cat was rabid.

I guess the survival instinct takes over and a person does what they have to do.  Since I take a blood thinner I wouldn't want to fight with one myself.  A little scrape with a feral house cat sent my wife into a panic a while back, she said when I walked into the house I looked like someone with a straight razor had attacked me, I was bleeding like crazy, and the scratches really weren't all that bad.

In Texas, if you are bitten by an animal the county will usually send the head to a lab for testing to see if the animal is rabid.  It is necessary to have the brain to test the animal, that is why you should never head shoot the animal.
