Aperture sights FINALLY

Now that we can use them in Pennsylvania's after Christmas flintlock season,I mounted a T/C hunter aperture sighty on my Green Mountain barrelled .50 Hawken and headed to the range.My first 3 shots cut the prettiest cloverleaf at 50 yards!Never did that with a flinter before , and my 75 yard groups were about 1 1/2 inch for 3.The load was 70gr of 2f Goex, a .495ball with .020 patch.Might bump the charge a bit for hunting loads though.I'm starting to like this flintlock... ;D

After allowing fiber -op sights ( VERY traditional those ::) , I hear Dann'l Boone really liked them) the Game Commission had a hard time not allowing peeps.Oh well, good things do come to those who wait( and wait and wait).BTW I have nothing against fiber-ops or those who use them.

Good decision by PA. Aperture sights are very historic and date back to early matchlocks.
